Cristo Reyes has reached a notable milestone on the PDC
Pro Tour. The Spaniard qualified for his first-ever Pro Tour final during
Players Championship 23, making history as the 150th different player ever to reach a
Players Championship final.
Long-awaited breakthrough
For Reyes, it marked a long-awaited breakthrough. The now experienced Spaniard has competed at the highest level for years and previously impressed at major televised tournaments. He has reached the last 16 of a major on several occasions.
Remarkably, in all those years he had never managed to reach a Pro Tour final. That finally changed in Leicester.
With a strong string of wins, Reyes battled his way to the final of
Players Championship 23. Although he ultimately lost 8-5 to Scotland’s Cameron Menzies, the final berth will feel like an important milestone for the Spaniard. Not just for the personal achievement, but also because it secured him a unique place in the Players Championship history books.
A special milestone
Reyes is the 150th different player to have reached a final since the introduction of the Players Championship events. It underlines once more how competitive the PDC Pro Tour is, where week in, week out the best players in the world battle for titles and prize money.
Only a select group ultimately plays their way into a final, making the achievement all the more special.
In addition, Reyes is only the fifth player in 2026 to reach his first Pro Tour final. Earlier this year, Justin Hood, Scott Waites, Beau Greaves, and Maik Kuivenhoven also reached a Players Championship final for the first time.
Of that quintet, Greaves is currently the only one who converted her debut final directly into a title. Hood, Waites, Kuivenhoven, and now Reyes had to settle for second place.
Cristo Reyes regained his PDC Tour Card earlier this year
For Reyes, however, this final can mean much more than just a nice statistic. His performances in Leicester show that he can still mix it with the very best in the PDC. After years of narrowly missing out on a Pro Tour final, he has finally broken that barrier.
Although the title ultimately remained out of reach, the Spaniard will hope this achievement marks the start of a new successful spell in his career.
