Van Gerwen on plan if wife Daphne goes into labour during UK Open: "If it starts, I'll just go home"

Van Gerwen's wife Daphne is due this month which has raised questions to the World Number One about whether he would stay in Minehead if she went into labour this weekend.

The World Number One said that he would go straight home if this happened like when he missed World Series events when his first child, Zoe was born and that Daphne is aware of this plan.

'Mighty Mike' saw off Nathan Aspinall last night and his fifth round assignment today is Jason Lowe on the main stage this afternoon.

"There is no emergency plan," he said to RTL7. "If it starts, I'll just go home. Very simple. She knows that, I know that, everybody knows that."
