The final has been confirmed on the third day of the PDC Summer Series with Michael van Gerwen set to face Jose de Sousa shortly.

Van Gerwen saw off Jeff Smith in a 7-4 win with the lead garnered by Mighty Mike proving pivotal as with Smith sat on 164, he missed the bull in the end which would have seen him go one away. The Dutchman though claimed it in the end staving off some late poor doubling.

After not winning a title at all on the Players Championship series up until Wednesday, he stands on the cusp of winning two in three days.

His opponent though could prove a match with De Sousa being the stand out today. His latest effort was a 105.7 average against Daryl Gurney winning 7-3 and despite also seeing his lead shrunk slightly in the end, 'The Special One' produced a late flourish to win through and set up a clash with the World Number One.
