Michael van Gerwen won the Newcastle Masters ran by NE Sporting Events on Monday which was an exhibition following the Players Championship Finals.
After beating a local player in the Quarter-Finals, he breezed past Glen Durrant 4-1. Joe Cullen was also too strong for Daryl Gurney so they met in the final. There he won 4-1.
He travelled all the way from Minehead for the exhibition to the North East of England with his draw of John Norman Jnr or Chas Barstow given for the PDC World Darts Championship while he was playing in Newcastle.
