Wilkinson began the night with a 5-0 win over Matthew Edgar which saw him average 101 and followed that up with edging past Callan Rydz in a 5-3 win which put him in pole position.
Steve Beaton looked like he was the player to trouble him but it was Matthew Edgar instead who came closest to dispelling the dominance of Wilkinson. He saw off 'The Bronzed Adonis' in a 5-1 win in a really impressive display.
Despite that though a defeat from Callan Rydz who up to then had not really produced his best saw Edgar's hopes basically ended. Wilkinson had a simple equation going into the final game, he only needed two legs against Beaton and he claimed them to join the line-up for the second round.
As a result, he finished top with six points (3 wins and 0 defeats with +10 leg difference) well ahead of Steve Beaton, Callan Rydz and Matthew Edgar who all finished in the requisite positions all with two points each.
