Peter Wright will face
Joe Cullen in the first
Premier League Darts semi-final in Rotterdam later this evening after the first round of Quarter-Finals.
Wright recovered from 3-1 down and punished a missed match dart from James Wade to seal a 6-5 victory as he looks to return to form after injury problems as of late.
It was all 'The Machine' early on who stormed into a 3-1 lead including a 100 checkout using two double 20's. Wright though stayed in touch and took the lead for the first time at 4-3 with three consecutive legs.
Wade squared it up and despite Wright going one away, he sent it all the way with an 80 checkout only to miss a match dart from 101 allowing Wright back for double 20 for the win after he initially missed 135.
While in the other Quarter-Final, there was darting drama as Joe Cullen battled back from 5-3 down and survived three match darts from Gary Anderson in the decider as he came through in a 6-5 victory.
But not only that as there was needle at the end of the match which potentially contributed to Anderson missing match darts with both players exchanging words at the end after 'The Flying Scotsman' looked back and shook his head at Cullen.
Both players hit a maximum to begin the tie but Anderson hit 84 on the bull to go into the lead. It was back and forth until Anderson went 3-2 up.
He regained the lead after a 12-darter from Cullen with a 164 checkout and went one away from victory on double five to break throw.
But Cullen hit back with a 64 checkout to send it all the way at 5-5 before the incident took place between the pair and Anderson missed three at double 20 allowing Cullen to come back and seal the deal.
