Jeffrey Sparidaans has won the 2025 Dutch Open Darts on the WDF circuit. The 31-year-old Dutchman defeated American darter David Fatum 3-0 in the final.

As you might expect, Sparidaans was beaming afterwards. "This is very nice for my self-confidence, especially after I failed to recapture my PDC Tour Card at Q-School. I am particularly proud of this achievement," Sparidaans told Darts Actueel in the moments following his tournament win.

In recent years with the PDC, he was mostly active in floor tournaments, not really doing enough to qualify for the big TV majors. "Still, it wasn't like I needed to get used to playing on a stage again. Scoring was good, but my doubles didn't work today. That still made it a fight for the win," he says. "By the way, it wasn't really adjusting to play a WDF tournament again. I have been playing tournaments of the NDB and WDF since I was sixteen, only the past two years I was only active with the PDC. Friday I also gained the necessary confidence in the pairs tournament, where I reached the last 32 alongside Thomas Junghans."

Sparidaans therefore looks back on this weekend tired but incredibly satisfied. "They were particularly long days," he explains. "On Saturday I played my first match at 10 in the morning and my last one was only at half past 10 in the evening. Then the day after I had to play again at 10:30am. So it was important to keep your concentration well and I managed to do that."

"My opponent in the final I didn't actually know," he admits. "I had never seen him before. I just focused on my own game."

The Dutch Open Darts is a 'Gold' tournament within the WDF and that makes Sparidaans, as the winner, immediately qualified for the WDF World Championship. "But if I can choose, still prefer the PDC World Darts Championship to Lakeside," he said.
