Part prevails in classic vs Painter as Howson bring legendary career of Bob Anderson to a close with whitewash win at the World Seniors Darts Masters

As the first session of the World Seniors Darts Masters comes to a close, John Part and Richie Howson have both ensured their progression to the second round, seeing off Kevin Painter and Bob Anderson respectively.

Twice a World Darts Championship semi-final encounter, John Part faced off against Kevin Painter. Part completely outscored Painter in the first set and despite some sketchy finishing from the Canadian, Part took the opening set.

The second set also went the way of 'Darth Maple' with Part going into the break 2-0 up. With someone in the crowd getting on Painter's nerves, 'the Artist' was becoming visibly frustrated and Part extending his lead to 3-0 did nothing to help matters.

Ever the fighter though, Painter took the fourth set to pull one back. A short while later it was 3-2 and Painter had the darts in the sixth set. As the Englishman continued to motor, it was soon all square. In a thrilling deciding set, the tie went all the way to a deciding leg. Painter had first chance, missing two darts at double 18 before Part returned to take the 4-3 victory.

Nearly fifty years after he threw his first competitive dart, Bob Anderson was given a heroes welcome as he entered his final tournament. His opponent, Richie Howson however, had no time for emotion, taking out a brilliant 134 checkout to take the opening leg.

Howson was comfortably playing the better darts and he soon moved into a 2-0 lead. As Howson moved three ahead, the commentators and the crowd were just waiting for 'the Limestone Cowboy' to hit a 180 and do his iconic celebration. That never came and Howson was able to easily take a 4-0 whitewash win.
