PDC Grand Slam of Darts preview - Sunday afternoon session

Progression could be confirmed and dreams could be dashed on day two. The Sunday afternoon session sees Groups E-H take another step towards completion. For the players who lost their first Grand Slam game, it's crunch time. Ryan Searle and Mark McGeeney, meeting in Group H, both know they need to improve. That's especially true for BDO number one McGeeney, who squandered an absurd number of darts at double versus Rob Cross.
Jim Williams pushed Peter Wright all the way on Sunday. If he pressures Josh Payne, the Welshman could well keep his hopes alive. Then Martin Schindler and Scott Mitchell do battle in a tasty Group G clash. That's followed by Simon Whitlock and Andrew Gilding, beaten comfortably in their respective openers, seeking to bounce back and bury their opponent.
Then it's time for Saturday's winners to come to the fore. Mensur Suljovic and Stephen Bunting won't fear anyone from Group H. But it's still best to avoid Rob Cross, so victory here would be very handy. Cross could end up messing up that particular equation if he can't step up his game and beat Dimitri van den Bergh.
Gerwyn Price will want to avoid being the next PDC ace to be gazumped by BDO hotshot Glen Durrant in the penultimate game. The final tie of the session pits Peter Wright against Max Hopp; the German must feel top spot in the group isn't beyond his grasp.
