Tickets for the
World Darts Championship are sold out before they could even go on free sale. There was massive interest in the tickets, as the PDC reported on their website.
The biggest event on the darts calendar will take place from December 15, 2024 to January 3, 2025. A field of 96 players will compete for the world title and split the prize pool of 2.5 million pounds. All available tickets were sold during the first two days of ticket sales. On Monday, it was the turn of PDC TV subscribers. In the first half hour, 40,000 tickets already flew out the door. There was still a small number of tickets left for the second priority window, which opened Tuesday for fans who had registered for free priority access. After this round, all tickets were definitely sold.
The PDC said they "recognize the frustration" some fans may have because they cannot get the tickets they want, although a limited number of travel and hospitality packages are still available. The PDC had reduced the number of tickets one could book per session to six table tickets or 10 grandstand tickets.
The PDC and SeeTickets are already working to ensure that tickets are sold to genuine fans. A process is underway to identify all tickets that may have been purchased with the intent to resell them without authorization. Luke Humphries will try to defend his title at the World Darts Championship after defeating Luke Littler in a thrilling final earlier this year, while world champions Michael van Gerwen, Michael Smith, Gerwyn Price and Rob Cross will also attempt to become world champions.
As every year, the World Darts Championship is divided into three periods. From Sunday, December 15 to Monday, December 23, the matches from the first and second rounds will be played. Traditionally the defending champion comes into action on opening night, so defending world champion Luke Humphries can already circle December 15 in his calendar.
After December 23, the tournament will be halted for three days for the traditional Christmas break. The remaining 32 players will return to London from Friday, December 27. From December 27 to Monday, December 30, the third round and fourth round are scheduled. There will be no play on December 31 so that the remaining players can celebrate the New Year. With eight players, we will enter the new year. The quarterfinals will take place on Wednesday, January 1, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, January 2. The final of the World Darts Championship 2025 will be on Friday, January 3.
