Beau Greaves won't play the PDC World Darts Championship again if she seals her spot through the Women's World Matchplay that gets played on Sunday afternoon. Winning last year enabled her to play at Ally Pally, but she snubbed it after the rule change for Lakeside.
She won her second WDF World title and wants three in a row so said that while it's a tough decision, it is the right one for her and trying to claim a hat-trick.
"I've not been that good on the Women's Series. Of course a Development Tour win and a few Quarter-Finals but I haven't played since so it's a bit of a mystery. Hopefully a good version of me turns up and I can win," said Greaves.
Having success on the Development Tour, she feels like a 'free agent' she said and that she doesn't have the pressure thrust on her from other angles. "I don't have the pressure of when I'm playing the ladies game and I have the freedom to be relaxed and it gives me the part of the game I don't think I have when I play against the ladies. They're so hard to win. The standard is so good. I was so proud of myself when I got that win. Hopefully I can get a few more. They definitely improved me."
But then it is onto the rest of the year and like alluded to, there is no plans for an Ally Pally return. "I'll go Lakeside. It's a really tough decision to make when you think of the opportunities. But being back-to-back defending champion is obviously hard to knock on the head. Before the PDC, it's what all the ladies played for and it is what it is. I'm quite content with the WDF, they're not perfect but no one is. I would hate to miss it and think I could've got three in a row. I'm sure I will make it back to Ally Pally and hopefully I'll try to win.
"It's really weird when I got the first one (World title), it was like the best achievement ever but when I got the second one it didn't feel as special. I don't know whether it's because of the whole environment, it was just a different feeling. If I get beat I would probably aim towards going back to Ally Pally but it's a hard one to think. I'm not going to win Ally Pally so what's the best option for myself and my game."
