Rob Cross stormed into the semi-finals with victory over Ricky Evans in which he had to survive a mini comeback after being 5-0 up, he ended up at 7-4 and 8-6 up but it was too much of a mountain to climb for the Kettering ace and 'Voltage' moved through.
He will next take on Daryl Gurney who defeated Dave Chisnall in a 10-5 win in the Quarter-Finals; as a result denied him the chance of winning a major title for the first time in what could be the St Helens ace's best chance of claiming one yet.
Gurney spoke recently to DartsNews.com about the Premier League and how he doesn't believe he is currently in the running; but he will know that if he can go all the way tonight, his place could be all but confirmed already.
Speaking of St Helens players getting a golden opportunity to win a first major, the same can be said for Michael Smith; but he did make it through. A high quality tie against Jeffrey de Zwaan saw him pushed on the scoring; but he blew him away due to the doubles with the Dutchman missing 21 at doubles throughout.
He will next face Gerwyn Price in what could be a classic encounter if the Welshman's afternoon game is anything to go by. He defeated Vincent van der Voort in a brilliant match which included a blockbuster 170 checkout. Can he silence the crowd and win another major or will Smith be king in Gottingen and win a first major?
