The Final Phase of the European Q-School will be held in Kalkar from Thursday to Sunday. 128 players will hunt there for a PDC Tour Card for the next two years.
On the third day of the Final Stage, the day's win went to Dennie Olde Kalter. The 33-year-old Dutchman thus captured a PDC Tour Card for the first time in his career. He defeated Swede Oskar Lukasiak 6-2 in the final and gets to play on the Pro Tour for the next two years.
However, the highest average of the day belonged to another player. Rusty-Jake Rodriguez beat Michal Smejda 6-2 in the quarterfinals, posting an average of 104.09. Rodriguez eventually reached the semifinals after a 6-4 defeat to Lukasiak. The Austrian is in a good position to secure a Tour Card via the Order of Merit, he is in sixth place with one day to go and the first twelve in this ranking still conquer a Tour Card.
The second highest average came in the name of Dominik Gruelich. The German defeated his compatriot Jannes Bremermann 6-1 in the first round, achieving an average of 100.59. Gruelich eventually stranded one round later after a 6-2 defeat against Marcel Walpen.
Completing the top three is once again Rusty-Jake Rodriguez, who won 6-3 over Dutchman Derk Telnekes in the first round, posting an average of 100.47.
Today is the last match day of the Final Phase of the European Q-School. For the winner of the day a PDC Tour Card for the next two years is waiting. For many players it is also a last chance to move up the Order of Merit and still have a shot at a Tour Card.
