Mervyn King is through to a clash with Madars Razma in the second round at the
World Series of Darts Finals and based off his display in a whitewash win over James Wade, the Latvian may be in for a torrid time.
King produced one of the biggest averages in the history of the World Series with 115.62 with only a slack visit or two preventing him from going for the record.
This featured four 180's, a high checkout of 144 and 66% on the doubles as Wade was not given a chance on the doubles.
King produced a 144 to hold at the outset and hit double eight for a 25 checkout to break and go 2-0 up.
His brilliance continued as he hit a 180 and 84 checkout to go 3-0 up and an 11 and 12 darter saw him go one away at the interval averaging 117 in the process.
Double 20 saw him seal it with an incredible 117 average giving Wade absolutely no chance.
While
Maik Kuivenhoven had his thunder stolen away from him of sorts as he became the first of a myriad of home heroes in Amsterdam to look to move through.
He breezed past John Henderson 6-2 with two ton plus checkouts including a brilliant 146 to win.
He will face Michael van Gerwen tomorrow, a player he has never lost to.
Kuivenhoven produced from the outset hitting double 20 for an opening break as he took the game to Henderson. He wasn't missing on the double and at the interval, he was 4-1 up.
A brilliant 110 checkout saw Kuivenhoven go one away from victory at 5-1 up.
A 180 to leave 48 saw Henderson stop the rot to make it 5-2 and just as it looked like Henderson was coming back into the match, 146 was smashed in by Kuivenhoven for victory.
