King surges past Baggish after surviving comeback to seal Round Three spot at PDC World Darts Championship

Mervyn King is through to the third round of the 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship after averting a comeback against American ace, Danny Baggish in a 3-2 sets win.

King was 2-0 up but Baggish rallied to force a decider before King sealed a 3-2 win with a superb late surge and he will face Rob Cross or Scott Williams.

Baggish went one away from the opening set with a break after King was sat on 0/6 on the outer ring. He missed a dart for the set and King hit double eight for 2-1 down. But an 84 checkout saw him send it all the way.

King completed the turnaround with an 86 checkout. He began the second set with a 41 checkout for a 12-darter. Baggish finally stopped the rot on double two.

King went one away from the set but Baggish sent it the distance on double 16. King though sealed a two sets lead on double 16.

Baggish opened up the third set on double 10 and broke on the same target after King missed 130 to hold. King hit 124 on double 11 to break back.

Baggish missed 74 for the set and King returned for double 10. He missed 80 for the match and Baggish sealed a set back. His revival continued pinning double eight to break and then 64 on the same target to go one away from 2-2.

King missed 131 on double 16 and Baggish hit 112 on double 20 to send it to a deciding set. King missed three darts to break and Baggish hit double eight to hold.

King on his throw went seven darts into a nine-dart finish but still got a 12-darter on double eight for 1-1. A 62 checkout saw him go one away and King hit double two.
