On Sunday afternoon, Gerwyn Price produced a ruthless response to his opening defeat by whitewashing James Wade 5–0 at the Grand Slam of Darts.
In the group where Ricky Evans has now booked his place in the knockout stage of the Grand Slam of Darts from Group D with a game to spare. After shocking Gerwyn Price 5–4 on Saturday, the world’s fastest thrower followed up with another 5–4 victory over Stefan Bellmont.
The Welshman now controls his own destiny — a win over Bellmont in his final group match will see him through to the last 16, while Wade’s campaign is already over. He averaged over 100 and hit two ton plus checkouts in thrashing Wade 5-0 and has boosted his chances of making it to the knockout stages.

While Gian van Veen produced a strong finish to defeat fellow Dutchman Wessel Nijman 5–3 in Group F. Van Veen raced into a 2–0 lead with a 14-darter and a 68 checkout but missed five darts to extend his advantage, allowing Nijman to level at 2–2. The pair traded legs before Van Veen kicked into gear, producing an 11-darter to move 4–3 ahead and sealing the win with a clinical 12-darter.

Rock keeps hopes alive as Noppert books latter stage spot

Despite back-to-back victories, Van Veen’s place in the last 16 is not yet guaranteed, owing to his narrow 5–4 win over Lisa Ashton in his opener. He will face Josh Rock in his final group game, while Nijman takes on Ashton, who remains winless after a 5–0 defeat to Rock earlier on Sunday.
Rock won 5-0 with a 98 average and in particular was mustard on his doubles hitting 63%, one ton plus checkout in the form of a 120 and his 9-dart average sat at 102. For Ashton it is kind of the breaks that the tournament produces, from being one leg away from beating Van Veen to now out of contention. She gets one more game later this week.
Also Danny Noppert is through already edging out Cam Crabtree 5–4 in his second group match. ‘The Freeze’ had already opened his campaign with a 5–4 win over Lukas Wenig on Saturday. With the German having shocked Jonny Clayton 5–3 earlier on Sunday, Noppert knew that another victory would be enough to seal qualification before throwing a dart.
It was far from straightforward for the man from Joure, though, as Crabtree impressed on throw early on. The Englishman faltered in the seventh leg, however, allowing Noppert to capitalise with a 13-darter to move 4–3 ahead.
Crabtree hit back immediately with a superb 117 checkout to force a deciding leg, but after missing six darts at double in the decider, Noppert made no mistake on tops to clinch victory. Although he still faces Jonny Clayton in his final group tie, Noppert is already assured of a spot in the last 16. Crabtree and Wenig will now battle it out for the remaining qualification place.
As Chris Dobey eased past Damon Heta also to keep his qualification hopes alive 5-1. The other caveat is Jurjen an der Velde maintained his hopes of reaching the knockout phase by edging Martin Lukeman 5–4 in Group B. The debutant bounced back strongly from his 5–1 defeat to Chris Dobey on Saturday.
Lukeman’s elimination means Van der Velde will face Heta on Monday evening in a straight shoot-out for a spot in the last 16.
