Despite no Luke Littler and Stephen Bunting, the second round is stacked in the evening session at the European Darts Trophy in Gottingen as we sow up the line-up for the final day in Germany.

Chief among the players involved include Michael van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Gary Anderson and Gerwyn Price with most of those involved facing ties that are certainly not walk-overs.

Including the opener as Gary Anderson will take on Luke Woodhouse. 'The Shed' took down home hope Dominik Gruellich in his opener on Friday. He averaged 94 and took Luke Humphries to the limit last time out.

Gerwyn Price takes on Ryan Searle in another top tie. The latter thrashed Laurin Welk in his opener as he handed out a lesson with a 99 average in a 6-0 whitewash. Wessel Nijman will await the winner who took down Danny Noppert on Saturday afternoon already.

Dave Chisnall v Ricky Evans follows in perhaps the fastest match in the darting world between two players well known for their power scoring. 'Rapid' won last night against Raymond van Barneveld which made headlines as he was in tears after posting the win was for his sister who sadly passed away earlier this month.

He did also have to issue a statement after Van Barneveld received abuse on social media for his perceived lack of compassion but this was far from the truth. Evans will hope that dedicating it to his sister can keep his form up and make it a weekend to remember. Chisnall who has previously dominated the European Tour on the otherhand will hope to get back on form.

As will Peter Wright. He lost to Matt Campbell last time out albeit was testing a new setup. One that paid dividends as he reached the latter stages of Players Championship 7 this week. He faces Mike de Decker in one of the ties of the round.

Peter Wright has shown green shoots on the ProTour this past week.

De Decker has looked better and better with his new setup from Mission after performing well in Wieze without being too confident. He now hopes he can do the same job on Wright as Campbell did and force his way into the final day.

Michael van Gerwen has very much looked vulnerable as of late and Niko Springer could provide a stern test and a shock. With the back drop of his home fans and Springer having won once already this weekend, it could be the scene of a shock win for Springer.

He saw off Daryl Gurney albeit perhaps not too much to gauge it on as it was a match of missed doubles but he sealed it 6-4 and lived up to expectation. MVG on the otherhand will look to finally seal a title this season. He reached the final in Cardiff which was a welcome tonic after he was poor again on the ProTour and skipped out on the second day.

When at full flight, MVG is still at his very best but when he is poor, he is poor and Springer will hope for the latter version tonight. Luke Humphries will hope to kickstart his European Tour season too.

Albeit he faces a stern test in Boris Krcmar who accounted for MVG last time out in Wieze, the big bad Croat saw off Dirk van Duijvenbode and despite not having a Tour Card for the first time in many a year, he is no doubt relishing the role of spoiler during these tournaments and accruing important money. In the past, European Tour success as a non Tour Card holder has led to further chances and Humphries will hope for his top level after an up and down few weeks.

Albeit a restful one in terms of not playing the ProTour and only being in Premier League action. Ahead of a busy time, he has hit reset and will hope that it works out this weekend.

King of the German crowd Martin Schindler returns.

Then it is perhaps the two closest ties of the night as Jonny Clayton who has been in some form as of late faces the darling of the crowd in Martin Schindler. The German has long been their number one and in particular on the European Tour has been special. So a game between these two is one to savour.

Before we get a battle of the fighters as Nathan Aspinall faces Ritchie Edhouse. Both known for their never say die doggied attitude to darts, it will be a real scrap no doubt and Aspinall seems to be on his game again and loving darts. Edhouse hasn't recaptured his Euro Championship form but will hope that his European Tour excellence from last year also returns.

Overall eight epic ties as we head towards the final day in style with many of the big names hoping to avoid upset defeats.

TV Guide

The tournament will be broadcast by PDC TV. As usual with Euro Tour tournaments, the European Darts Trophy consists of three tournament days. The afternoon sessions will start daily at 12 p.m., while the evening sessions will start at 6 p.m.

The first round will take place on Friday, where the 16 Pro Tour players will face 16 players who emerged from the various qualifying tournaments. The winners of these matches will face a player from the top-16 of the world rankings in the second round on Saturday. The third round will be played on Sunday afternoon, before the quarterfinals, semifinals and final are completed on Sunday evening.

Distribution of prize money

All participants starting from the first round are guaranteed £1250 in prize money, while the top-16 enter from the second round and receive £2,500 anyway. This amount eventually rises to the grand prize of £30,000 for the winner.

An important detail is that players who are automatically seeded via the Order of Merit and lose their first match will not be awarded prize money on the various rankings. This does apply to qualifiers who are later designated as seeded by the withdrawal of others.
