Stowe Buntz completes hat trick on CDC Tour and looks good for spot at World Darts Championship

Stowe Buntz proved unbeatable last weekend during the third tournament weekend of the CDC Tour in Cambridge, Canada. This circuit is open to darters from the United States and Canada.

Buntz had already won the first two tournaments of the weekend on Saturday by defeating Alex Spellman twice in the finals. A third title followed on Sunday, completing his hat trick.

The American made it to the final after wins over Eugene Schmitt (5-1), Doug Boehm (6-4), Chuck Puleo (6-4) and Danny Lauby (7-1). In the final, he faced Jim Long, who had dealt with Jacob Taylor (6-4) and David Cameron (7-2), among others. In the final match, however, Long had to bow to Buntz 7-2.

Buntz, after winning his three CDC titles, is in a good position to qualify for the World Darts Championship. With one tournament weekend remaining, he is now second on the CDC Tour Order of Merit. His closest rival Danny Lauby is 10 points behind Buntz. Alex Spellman, by the way, is the leader on the CDC ranking with 82 points, two more than Buntz.

The best Canadian also gets to go to Alexandra Palace. Currently, that is Jacob Taylor with 60 points. However, the difference with competitors David Cameron (58 points) and Jim Long (56 points) is extremely small.
