These players could potentially lose their PDC Tour Card after the current season

The second half of the darts season is upon us, which means that many ranking tournaments will be played again in the coming months.

For some players, including a number of household names, this period is especially important to get into the top 64 to maintain their status as professional dart players.

Ian White

White, a former quarterfinalist at the PDC World Darts Championship and winner of ten Players Championships, has had a down period in recent years and is currently 47th in the world rankings. The Englishman has a lot of prize money to defend in the coming months, but seems to have recently returned to the right path. With good results on the Pro-Tour, The Diamond is almost certain to participate in the World Darts Championship and the Players Championship Finals, so his chances of keeping his Tour Card at the end of the year are very good.

Devon Petersen

Petersen had a banner year in 2020, which included winning a Euro Tour and reaching the semifinals of the European Championship. Since then, however, things have gone downhill for the South African and he is currently ranked 75 in the world rankings and 145 in the Pro Tour rankings. The African Warrior was also in danger of losing his Tour Card in 2018, but then managed to save his status as a professional dart player by making an unexpected run to the last 16 at the World Championship.

Jeff Smith

The Silencer looks set to lose his Tourcard, which he captured in 2020, at the end of this year. The former Lakeside finalist is outside the top 64 and is far from qualifying for the World Championship via the Pro Tour rankings. Although the Canadian won the PDC North American Championship this year, new rules prevented him from qualifying for the World Championship via this route as a Tour Card holder.

Darius Labanauskas

Labanaskas, a former quarterfinalist at the PDC World Darts Championship, has been part of the professional darts circuit since 2018. Like Jeff Smith, as a Tour Card holder the Lithuanian is no longer allowed to qualify for the World Championship via a regional tour, meaning Lucky D must try to qualify via the Pro Tour Order of Merit (where he is ranked 107).

Steve Lennon

Lennon, a former World Championship finalist, has held a Tour Card for six years. The Irishman is currently on the edge of the top 64, but is in good shape to make it to the Players Championship Finals and the World Championship. With victories at these tournaments, the Irishman could extend his Tour Card for a seventh year.

Other notable names at high risk of losing their Tour Card at the end of 2023 are Danny Jansen, Richie Burnett, Florian Hempel, Ritchie Edhouse and Cameron Menzies.
