Although not at his best, Chris Mason eventually managed to see off a brave performance by Trina Gulliver in the first round of the World Seniors Darts Masters.
Coming from 2-0 down, Mason had to do it the hard way. "I just couldn't live with her early doors," Mason admits post-match to Online Darts. "Fortunately for me, she dropped off and I nicked a couple of legs here and there."
"I managed to just literally, fall over the line but early doors she was averaging 94 after two sets. Anybody here is gonna have their hands with that," Mason continues. "I'm playing really well. I didn't produce it there, but I just never had the opportunity to play in a relaxed state, and that's what you need."
Next up for 'Mace the Ace' is Leonard Gates and Mason knows he'll have to up his game for that one. "The only solace I have, is I know what I can do. And if it comes out I win, if it doesn't I'm going home."
