New Secretary General for WDF on big plans and Grand Slam of Darts: "It is the intention that the WDF will designate these places from 2021"

In mid-April, Nick Rolls was appointed as the new Secretary General of the World Darts Federation (WDF). In recent years he has been active as a referee at the BDO.

Last year, however, Rolls stepped down from the BDO together with his fellow referees Marco Meijer, Antony Dundas; Charlie Corstorphine and Richard Ashdown; as a result of being dissatisfied with the current management in the organisation; now he has found a new role and new goals.

"We hope with the WDF to take over the role of the BDO in the long term; so we definitely want to organise two majors; including a kind of Masters tournament and also a World Championship," said Rolls in conversation with RTL7 Bullseye Podcast.

In recent years, eight players from the BDO system have each been allowed to participate in the Grand Slam of Darts. "We are discussing this with the PDC and it is the intention that the WDF will designate these places from 2021," Rolls concludes.
