BDO announce new TV deal with Eurosport to show all majors from 2019

The British Darts Organisation (BDO) have announced a new broadcasting deal with Eurosport which will run for three years. They will showcasing the World Championship, World Masters and World Darts Trophy.
Eurosport are no strangers to BDO coverage; including showing the World Masters in the past and they will now be the primary broadcaster. This ends speculation about the organisation not having a TV deal for the World Championship at the end of the year.
There will also be free to air coverage of the events; with Quest showing parts of the tournament live and highlights otherwise.
BDO Chairman Des Jacklin said the following on the announcement; ‘Even with the tight time constraints and the on-going pressure to announce details of the upcoming BDO World Professional Darts Championships, both myself and my team weren’t looking for a quick fix. We have been committed to securing this long-term broadcasting contract so we can focus our attentions on further improving the BDO for the players and supporters alike.
Eurosport have for many years been a great broadcast partner and supporter of the BDO. It is fantastic to see them get the opportunity to show the BDO World Professional Darts Championships in the UK for the first time and to give us a 9 event 3-year commitment to the UK, Netherlands and Australia.’

05/01-13/01 - World Professional Championships
30/08-01/09 - World Darts Trophy
25/10-27/10 - Winmau World Masters

If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
