Cross speaks after debut win at World Cup of Darts: “I was a bit nervous but it’s great to represent my country”

Rob Cross represented his country for the first time last night at the World Cup of Darts picking up a win with Dave Chisnall over Czech Republic in a good debut win for the pair.
This wasn’t without nerves with the team going 4-1 up only to be pegged back to 4-3 but Cross and Chisnall held their nerve in the end to win and set up a match with Singapore in the Last 16. ’Voltage’ spoke about his World Cup of Darts debut and admitted he was a bit nervous but for him it was great to represent his country for the first time. “I was a bit nervous but it's great to represent my country,” said Cross. “It's weird, I've never played pairs before but it was a decent start and we'll be better for this now that I've had the experience of the stage and won the game. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises. It happens, I have watched and heard Littler being jeered - Dirk van Duijvenbode in Holland, January this year. Where was your outrage then?
