Michael Smith edges out Benito van de Pas in decider to reach Quarter-Finals

Michael Smith is through to the Quarter-Finals of the European Championship in Hasselt but was pushed all the way by his opponent Benito van de Pas in the process.
Smith had to produce an 118 checkout to win in a deciding leg after Benito had come back from 8-4 down to force a decider. For Benito he will be thinking what might of been and for Michael like in his first round clash where Aspinall came back he will have to make sure he takes his chances tomorrow in the Quarter's to get an easy passage to the semi finals.

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
