Price on reaching final day of European Championship: ‘Hopefully I can go one step further this time’

Gerwyn Price claimed a 10-5 win over Dave Chisnall as ‘The Iceman’ moved into another major quarter-final at the European Championship.
Afterwards Price spoke about his want to go one step further than his UK Open final two years ago. Despite that though he admitted he has to build on the way he played against the St Helens ace.
"I was a bit anxious - I didn't know how these darts were going to go," said Price. "I haven't been scoring very well but I finished well.
"I changed my darts again today because I wasn't scoring very well with the other set that I had, but to come out with a 180 was a good start and I built from there.
"I played with a lot more rhythm today, I was a lot more fluent and I'm happy with the way I played but I need to build on this and hopefully improve over the next day.
"I've been to the UK Open final, and hopefully I can go one step further this time. It's wide open but I need to play a lot better if I'm going to win this tournament."

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). Taylor and MVG are two prime examples of professionals who are able to cope with the crowds mentally and not take it personally. This is not just an English crowd problem, FFS.MrYnyslas197116-11-2024
- Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I blame the PDC to a certain extent though doubt they really care as they win regardless of which player wins or loses.Mysstree16-11-2024

I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
