Michael Smith roared back to form last night with a 7-1 win over Simon Whitlock which saw the St Helens ace continue his charge in the Premier League.
He hit six 180’s with a 97.5 average and admitted afterwards that the previous day knocked him a bit; but he was focused on winning against Whitlock. Smith sees it now as a step firmly towards the Play-Offs.
"Yesterday knocked me back a bit but tonight I knew I had to win," said Smith, who finished 7/14 doubles in a strong display.
"I was a bit nervous and feeling a bit under pressure but the 180s started flowing and the doubles weren't too bad. I'm a step closer to the Play-Offs now."
