The world number four
defeated Corey Cadby 11-7 to add the trophy to his two World Championship and Players Championship Finals wins. The Flying Scotsman beat Robert Rickwood, Ricky Evans, Jermaine Wattimena, Rob Cross and David Pallett to reach the final. At a near-empty Butlin's in Minehead, Anderson saw off the Australian star to take the £70,000 top prize.
"It's fantastic for me. I've come here to win the tournament and managed to do it, and it's great," said Anderson.
Cadby, winner of
UK Open Qualifying 5, earned praise from the two-time Premier League winner. The 22-year-old has taken just two months to work his way into the world's top 64.
"In the last three games I've been lucky - it's been a struggle. Corey is good and I've got a lot of time for him, he's a class act," Anderson said.
The Scot was less than optimistic about his long-term prospects in professional darts. But he spoke highly of the youngsters, including Cadby, who will one day replace him.
He said: "I knew exactly what to expect and he's going to be about for a long, long time. It's getting harder every year with all the youngsters coming through and they'll take it in their stride."
