The 22-year-old stormed through the tournament to reach the Sunday evening showdown in Minehead. He beat Michael Rasztovits, Martin Schindler, Chris Dobey, Gerwyn Price and Robert Owen. But Gary Anderson was too tough an obstacle for Cadby. The Flying Scotsman
won 11-7, leaving the Aussie star to rue his mistakes.
"I'm only young, I've got a lot to learn and I'm pretty happy to make the final. I'm not happy to be runner up but I'll take it," he said.
"I gave everything but you've got to hit the doubles at crucial times, you can't afford to miss and Gary came through and won."
The King established a 4-1 lead at an empty Reds Bar. But the two-time world champion bounced back to take the lead. The pair traded blows, but a 108 checkout turned things Anderson's way. The Scot took the title, but spared plenty of praise for his talented young opponent. Cadby now turns his attentions to his impending marriage, before continuing his rise up the rankings.
Cadby will rise into the world's top 64 when the next Order of Merit is released. That is despite the fact he only earned his Tour Card two months ago. His meteoric rise has drawn comparisons to world champion Rob Cross.
