Van den Bergh tops averages at Austrian Darts Open 2018

This past weekend was the Austrian Darts Open 2018 and Dimitri van den Bergh topped the averages for the tournament. 'The Dreammaker' hit an effort of 106.42 in a 6-4 win over Simon Stevenson in Round 1 on Friday.

It was a game that also included a 9-darter attempt from the Belgian ace; as he became the next player to come close to the darting holy grail which hasn't been broken on the Euro Tour in 5 years.
Van den Bergh was joined close behind by Mensur Suljovic, 'The Gentle' looked inspired all weekend in front of his home crowd. He hit 106.29 in smashing Darius Labanauskas 6-1.
The champion Jonny Clayton was 3rd showing his form all weekend. 'The Ferret' hit an average of 105.32 in shocking James Wade which was potentially the defining moment in the weekend for the Pontyberem ace.
In addition, Gerwyn Price the finalist in the all-Welsh clash registered 2 efforts in the top ten all weekend. Hitting the 9th and 10th best efforts showing a return to form for the Iceman.
It was a tournament that saw exactly 10 averages of 100+ thrown in 46 games all weekend showing how good darts is at the moment.
