PLAYER OF YEAR

For a fourth successive year, Michael van Gerwen was named PDC Player of the Year at the Annual Awards Dinner in London on Monday Night.

The 28-year-old Dutchman received the award for a remarkable year. His season started with last January's triumph at the World Championship. Then Van Gerwen went on to win a third Masters, Premier League, World Series of Darts Finals and Grand Slam of Darts title.
'Mighty Mike' also booked his fourth successive victory at the European Championship and the Players Championship Finals. Together with Raymond van Barneveld he also won his second World Cup of Darts title for The Netherlands.
“I had a fabulous year,” said Van Gerwen after picking up the honour for a third succesive year.
“Rob Cross did phenomenally last year but I still had a good year and I won 18 tournaments and I’m happy to win this award.
“I will keep believing in myself this year and I’m still in good form. I know I can do a little bit better but I will celebrate this award first and then prepare for the tournaments coming up.”
