Beeney "absolutely buzzing" after winning first game as a PDC Tour Card holder: "I've not got the pedigree of anyone here. I'm starting from the bottom"

One of the stories of Friday's PDC Summer Series was Aaron Beeney claiming his first win as a PDC Tour Card holder.

Heralded by his own admission as one of the surprise players to get through Q-School, Beeney defeated Scott Waites which saw delight from many darts fans and the man himself as he caught up with the PDC to reflect on it.

"Absolutely buzzing. It weren't my best game, I played better my last two days but Scott Waites is a former World Champion, major winner and it was hard going but it made it all the better," said Beeney to the PDC.

"In my whole life, I've got three caps for county, done three years of Super League. I've probably only played five open tournaments ever so this year's been massive for me. I've not got the pedigree of anyone here so I'm the newbie, I'm starting from the bottom but the first win feels amazing."

"The lockdown kind of helped me. I've come back and the last couple of days I've hit my two highest PDC averages, I mean nothing phenomenal. I'm starting to treat it like a professional thing rather than just being a pub player."
