Matt Campbell impressed at both the World Cup of Darts and World Championship this past year and is one of the forerunners at Q-School starting on Monday as he aims to join Jeff Smith on the ProTour.
Campbell lost in the first round against Scott Waites at the recent World Championship albeit in one of the closest games of the tournament.
"It was rough, all I was thinking was just hold your throw and then I broke him, makes me kind of wish I didn't break him as I couldn't bring myself back down to reality. He threw an awesome 11-dart leg in the final leg and nothing you can do about it," said Campbell to Online Darts.
"The way I looked at it was that I knew I was going to go to Q-School regardless of what happened with the World Championship so the World Championship was just like the beginning of the year so whatever happened and I still had a full year to look forward to."

Still working full-time

Campbell still works as a welder back in Canada and said that while it's tough, he has been given support by his work to chase his dream.
"It's tough to find the time to practice. My work's pretty easy going about it, they understand what I'm trying to do. As long as I'm booking the time off, they don't mind."
"It's tough to give up your full time job and livelihood to chase a dream."
That dream will continue at Q-School and for Campbell, he is willing to make the sacrifice of being over in the UK for a few months at a time if he is successful.
"There's tons of North American players that are going over to Q-School that are more than capable of winning their Tour Cards and also there are also tons of players that aren't going over that are capable of doing it as well. So it's just the matter of who wants to take the chance and who doesn't."
"I would just do what I have to do, If I've got to stay there for a month or two that's the life I'm going to be choosing so I've got to really do it."
