Clayton sets sights on World Championship after World Grand Prix triumph: "I am one step closer"

Jonny Clayton produced an incredible display to down his compatriot and close friend, Gerwyn Price 5-1 and win the 2021 World Grand Prix in Leicester.

Clayton finally claims his first TV ranking major title and did so at the expense of Price who was once again chasing back-to-back victories in a tournament.

"I feel fantastic obviously so far so good. I'm relaxed, I'm enjoying every second of it. I loved that final obviously because I won but to reach that far in a massive tournament, a ranking tournament. I've got no words to explain,"

Now having three major titles under his belt though, Clayton will now head towards the Alexandra Palace aiming to win the biggest of the lot.

"It's on my CV, I've got a few tournaments on my CV now. There's people here in the darts world that's never won a major so I've got a few now under my belt and hopefully it's going to carry on."

"I enjoy my darts, they're going good so what more do you want but how many more players are chasing that dream same as I am. I am one step closer to winning that.
