Edgar discusses potential changes to UK Open and red button option: "I think something like that could happen"

The UK Open is the next event on the PDC major calendar and is one that will be different this year with behind closed doors in Milton Keynes and Matthew Edgar in his series about potential changes has discussed what he'd do to make the FA Cup of Darts better.

While he wouldn't change the format, his thought process centres around a red button option to watch the games.

"The second board this is where there is a really good addition to the UK Open being in Minehead and something to keep. It's like a smaller room where you can go in and it's produced like a normal event, callers, markers, little walk ons. You can go in and watch alternate games to the main stage so really good option," said Edgar.

"There's boards 3-8 and this is where the rest of the games happen. Great atmosphere in those early rounds, really good room. The UK Open has improved massively, you can watch boards 3-8 on DartConnect so there's options there that are growing all the time. I wouldn't change the format, it's the best event on the calendar.

"The accessibility could be better for boards 3-8, even when I first played in the UK Open 10 years ago, there was talks and people saying can we get a red button option."

"I think something like that could happen. People have said it's not possible due to the amount of cabling and the amount of work that would go in. But what about now with internet and streaming."
