Humphries on effect of European Tour glory as top seed at European Championship: “Winning those titles made me believe”

Luke Humphries heads into tonight’s opener at the European Championship against Krzysztof Ratajski looking to repeat his European Tour excellence as top seed.
Humphries spoke prior to the tournament about the effect of winning four titles and he said it added belief and confidence that weren’t there prior.
“Winning those titles made me believe. It made me believe I could win, and that is crucial,” said Humphries.
“Once you win that first title, it makes you believe things can happen.
“The top 16 now is very elite. There is nothing between us. We’re all very good players and it’s exciting times for darts, because there is exceptional talent around.”

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
