PDC scraps tie-break for this year's World Championship

The PDC have scrapped tie breaks for this year’s World Darts Championship, it was revealed with sets now lasting a maximum of five legs.

This has been done due to the potential for sessions over running if there is a tie break. Before, a player had to win by two clear legs before it went to a sudden death leg but this time around it will automatically go to the latter.

Due to Coronavirus measures, the evening sessions starts an hour earlier than usual. As a result, there is less time between the afternoon and evening session. This choice was made to avoid too little time between both sessions with fans being staggered into the Palace and the changeover between sessions needed with less time. The tiebreak is expected to return to the World Championship next year.
