Price confident ahead of World Grand Prix: "I seem to do well in events when I'm a defending champion"

The World Grand Prix starts in Leicester on Sunday and Gerwyn Price seems to be in good form at just the right time as he looks to head towards the defence of his title.

Price won the Gibraltar Darts Trophy last weekend in a good confidence booster for him. Last year, he defeated Dirk van Duijvenbode 5-2 in the final.

"I seem to do well in events where it's back-to-back when I'm a defending champion. It seems to give me a bit of a kick up the backside and another urge to win even more. It's not my favourite tournament but this year I'm looking forward to it with the crowds back as well," he said to Boyle Sports.

Elbow injury

He was also asked about his injury sustained at the Nordic Darts Masters but as far as he is concerned, it's all systems go.

"I knew exactly what was wrong and what I had to do. Unfortunately I had to pull out of the event to try and fix it in time for this weekend and the big events that are coming up. I've had a throw since Tuesday or Wednesday and everything seems to be in good order."
