Update 15:40

Rydz edges past Price, Gurney dents Petersen's World Matchplay hopes

The action continues in Milton Keynes up to the Last 16 stage with Gerwyn Price the latest player to fall. The Number One seed would have been optimistic of potentially claiming a title today especially with Michael van Gerwen falling early on but despite averaging 101, he lost 6-4 to Callan Rydz who averaged 99.

Rydz beforehand had produced a 105 average to edge past Ryan Searle after a last leg decider win over Matt Clark. The performance of the round though came from Daryl Gurney who claimed a 6-4 win over Devon Petersen to put a dent in his World Matchplay aspirations.

The latter was awfully unlucky like he has been all week with the performances he has been putting in, he averaged 106 to Gurney's 107 but lost out in the end to 'Superchin'.

Also through include the likes of Peter Wright, Michael Smith, Ian White and Glen Durrant as we get towards the latter end of proceedings.

Dobey's World Matchplay hopes diminished by Whitlock

The first round is complete on the fourth day of PDC Summer Series and with the World Matchplay field being completed on Sunday - it is last chance saloon for a lot of players.

One of those is Chris Dobey. 'Hollywood' lost out 6-5 to Simon Whitlock who won with a 13 darter on throw. Now the Bedlington ace needs to win tomorrow's event to have any chance of returning to Milton Keynes next week.

Steve Beaton's progress is also under threat with 'The Bronzed Adonis' £2,000 clear of Ryan Searle in 17th in 14th place currently but a third consecutive first round defeat will see his place go down to the wire.
