We are in Hungary this weekend, hosting the third edition of the
Hungarian Darts Trophy. The Papp László Budapest Sportaréna in Budapest is hosting the twelfth Euro Tour tournament of 2023.
On Friday afternoon the first eight duels from the first round will be played. During the first session, the tournament will get underway in style with some top quality matchups.
The tournament opens with a duel between Jermaine Wattimena and Joe Murnan. After that, Vladimir Andersen and Anton Ostlund will take on each other. Danny Noppert will follow that match with interest, as his opponent in the second round is from that match.
The third match of the afternoon is between Sebastian Bialecki and Mihaly Vida, before Madars Razma and
Scott Waites take on each other.
Scott Mitchell will next be Andy Boulton's opponent.
Next, Scott Williams and Richard Veenstra will decide who will be Dirk van Duijvenbode's opponent in the second round. Mike de Decker, the only Belgian at this tournament, will next meet
Andrew Gilding.
The last match of the afternoon is between
Gian van Veen and Brendan Dolan. For Van Veen it is an important tournament. The Dutchman can still qualify for the World Grand Prix and will have to reach at least the third round in Budapest to pass rival Ricardo Pietreczko.
Where can I watch the Hungarian Darts Trophy live?
UK subscribers who pay for PDCTV will receive it as part of their subscription. It is also shown on Viaplay including at times their Viaplay Xtra TV channel for free in the UK.
The first round will take place on Friday, while the top-16 seeded players will enter for the second round on Saturday. The third round will be played on Sunday afternoon, followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals on Sunday night.
How much prize money is to be won?
During each Euro Tour tournament, £175,000 in prize money is distributed. All qualifiers are guaranteed £1,250, while the top-16 players on the Hungarian Darts Trophy's placement list will receive £2,500 anyway. However, these 16 players must win their first game in the second round for the prize money to actually count toward the world rankings and other rankings.
Per victory, the prize money earned increases. For example, the finalists already receive a minimum of £12,000. The winner of the tournament goes home with the top prize of 30,000 pounds.
