The PDC recently announced that players participating in the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace in December will not be allowed to compete in the WDF World Championship at Lakeside earlier that month.
For players who do not have a PDC Tour Card, it is possible to qualify for both tournaments through various avenues. This currently applies to Luke Littler, Berry van Peer and Beau Greaves.
The first two names choose to compete at Ally Pally, while Greaves' choice is not yet known. If Greaves chooses to compete at Lakeside, only two ladies will compete in the PDC's World Darts Championship this year.
The qualifying criteria for the World Darts Championship include three spots for women. The winner of the Women's World Matchplay will receive an invitation, as will the top two players of the PDC Women's Series 2023.
Greaves won the Women's World Matchplay and is currently a distant leader on the Women's Series Order of Merit. If Greaves "just competes" at Alexandra Palace, the spots for the Women's World Darts Championship will be given to the numbers two and three on the rankings via the Women's Series.
However, the Women's World Matchplay qualifying spot cannot be advanced if Greaves decides not to compete in the PDC's World Darts Championship, PDC executive Matt Porter told Online Darts when asked.
As a result, only two women will then compete at Alexandra Palace; the numbers two and three on the Women's Series Order of Merit. In that case, an additional spot for the World Championship will be distributed during the qualifying tournament for PDC Tour Card holders on Nov. 27.
