Training with Anderson pays off for Searle at the World Matchplay despite the fact "I haven't won a session since Christmas!"

Ryan Searle has convincingly qualified for the second round of the World Matchplay. 'Heavy Metal' defeated Raymond van Barneveld 10-4 in the opening round.

Searle posted the highest average of any player in the first round with 105.19. "I felt like in the second session I really turned the screw" Searle said afterwards. "I feel like I've started the season quite well. It's just the majors where I really want to push on now."

Searle recently started throwing new arrows. "They're 34 grams now instead of 32 so I've gone up in weight. if I'm getting my first start right like I was tonight then I can really do some damage."

Anderson

The 35-year-old Englishman regularly trains with Gary Anderson and it seems to be paying off for both. "I'm trying to avoid him," Searle laughs. "I haven't won a session since Christmas!"
