Van Barneveld on what he's missed ahead of comeback: "I want to feel that pressure and adrenaline again"

During the Quarter-Finals of the World Grand Prix, Raymond van Barneveld was an analyst for RTL7 and the Dutchman gave more information about his plans to return to the ProTour.

Van Barneveld realises that it won't be that easy but that an aim of potentially being involved at the World Championship qualifier could be the plan. "I still have a long way to go, at the moment I am training very hard and at the end of November I may participate in the qualifying tournament for the World Championship. At the moment I feel great, I am just a different man who has turned 360 degrees."

Van Barneveld also had a clear explanation about the how and why of his comeback. "I started to miss it very much, this world and the people you meet in 35 years of your life. Moreover, I suddenly had no goals and the exhibitions were also lost due to Coronavirus. I want to feel that pressure and adrenaline again. "

No certainty of success

Whether the comeback will succeed is also uncertain for 'Barney'. "Obviously this is difficult to predict. Yet it can go quickly. In the past I always performed best if I practiced a lot, if I can maintain that practice rhythm, great performances may be coming again. Someone like Glen Durrant recently proved also that you can quickly be at the top again. "
