Michael van Gerwen is a five-time champion at the
World Grand Prix as it makes its debut temporarily in Leicester due to the Citywest again being out of action.
Van Gerwen returned to winning ways recently title wise after a drought for the Green Machine and will hopefully take that winning feeling to the East Midlands.
"I'm definitely looking forward to playing in the tournament again. It's a nice tournament, it's a little bit different than normal with the double in. I fancy the tournament and for some reason, I've won it a few times so it's always nice to play that tournament.
"I had to wait nine months for a tournament victory and of course I lost a few finals and probably here and there a bit unlucky. I was struggling with my form a little bit but last week, I was glad to win the tournament in Copenhagen."
He is also confident ahead of the World Grand Prix and will look to send a message to the field.
"They all know what I'm capable of, so I don't have to prove anything. I only need to make sure I do the right things for myself and keep progressing yourself, keep trying to make it better. That's the most important thing."
