Michael van Gerwen lost out in the final on Sunday night of the European Darts Matchplay to Joe Cullen in another brilliant final and the second one in two weeks that MVG has lost out in.

Van Gerwen also lost in Vienna but as usual, he was gracious in defeat. He gave credit to Cullen and said that he played a phenomenal tournament.

As well as that as a result he has to just take it on the chin and move forward with the next tournaments soon on the horizon.

"If you lose any final you can only blame yourself," said Van Gerwen. "I missed a few chances but Joe played a phenomenal tournament.

"Normally he's very laconic but today he beat some phenomenal players, also myself in the final, and fair play to him. I have to take this on the chin and move forward."
