Peter Wright initially kept his
Premier League Darts play-offs hopes alive with a dramatic 8-5 win over Jonny Clayton but that was promptly taken away.
Wright spoke about the Clayton tie and the difficulty of playing in front of a crowd that wasn't promptly warmed up.
"It was very difficult. I don't know why, it was like going up there first, the crowd were not warmed up, they're not all singing. But I got over the line eventually, Jonny missed a couple of doubles that helped me out. I took over the last half of the match, it's like Jonny missed and let me in," said Wright post match.
'Snakebite' will now face off against
Michael van Gerwen in the final match of the regular season and he heaped praise on the Green Machine.
"Hopefully I don't turn up like I did last time because I was terrible but I'm sure I won't do that and I'm sure it will be a good game for the crowd. Well done on Michael qualifying for another year, it just goes to show you Michael not playing at the top of his game and still managing to qualify. Hats off to him."
