Carlo van Peer impresses in WDF double header in Japan as home hopes dominate

Last weekend two WDF tournaments were played in Japan with mainly a Japanese contingent sealing the titles with Carlo van Peer standing out also who is the brother of the Dutch Tour Card holder.

Van Peer reached the final of the Japan Open, a tournament with silver status on the WDF calendar. The Dutchman defeated Yuichirou Ogawa (4-2), Tasuku Abe (4-1), Kazuya Uchida (4-2) and Atsushi Takeuchi (4-0). In the final, Van Peer lost 5-4 to Shusaku Nakamura. The women's edition of the WDF Japan Open was won by Kosuzu Iwao, who was too strong for Mayumi Ouchi in the final 5-3.

In the last four of the WDF Bud Brick Memorial, Van Peer who reached the final in the prior tournament was defeated by Tasuku Abe. The Bud Brick Memorial was eventually won by Tomoya Maruyama, who defeated Abe 5-0 in the final. Shiori Sato was the women's winner by defeating Mayumi Ouchi 4-1 in the final.
