Andy Hamilton saw off Darren Herewini in his first match at the 2020 BDO World Championship as one of the favourites for the title averted a potential early shock.

Hamilton spoke afterwards and said he feels he tried too hard and that it was only when the nerves went that he started to show his best game.
That best game is something that Hamilton feels is coming though and he hopes he can reach the final which is his ultimate aim.
"The atmosphere is good out there, I think I just tried too hard. I was nervous, it's why it was frustrating," said Hamilton to Tungsten Tales.
"If there are no nerves, there's no point playing the game. Nerves just turn into adrenaline, I was so nervous for most of that game until probably the last few sets when I showed what I can do and I think that's what showed in the end."
"I probably prepared better for this than I have in a long time. I've travelled down to Stockport playing with a good friend of mine in Darryl Fitton, I've put so many hours in for this event to play well here, hopefully now this will produce the best darts of me. I've not started yet so hopefully I'll be in this final and I'll win this final."
