THROWBACK VIDEO: Taylor wins first of sixteen World titles with victory over Bristow in 1990 final

With the BDO World Darts Championship not taking place for the first time this month due to the demise of the organisation, DartsNews takes a look back at some of the best moments and matches from over the years.

Onto 1990 and for Phil Taylor, it was the first of his sixteen World titles as he defeated his mentor Eric Bristow 6-1 in the final.

It was a debut victory for 'The Power' who was playing in his first World Championship at the age of 29. He defeated Russell Stewart, Dennis Hickling, Ronnie Sharp and Cliff Lazarenko en route to the final.

It was also a tournament which saw Paul Lim hit the first ever nine-dart finish at the World Championship and the only one ever thrown on the BDO side of the darting divide.
