Daryl Gurney wins against Ronny Huybrechts in high quality first round contest at the Alexandra Palace

Daryl Gurney won through to the second round against Ronny Huybrechts after a high quality performance from 'Superchin'. The best part of it was the first set where Huybrechts lost it with a 110 average and he poached a set when it looked like he might of lost by 3-0 which would of been a harsh result on 'The Rebel'.
Gurney hit a 100.5 average, seven 180's and a 170 checkout along the way in a good encounter between the two players with Ronny pushing 'Superchin' far in the match. Now he has got over the first hurdle though, Daryl has to be fancied to go and potentially win the tournament and his opening salvo definitely shows that.

- It happens. Remember, anyone who has watched German and Dutch players in matches - their respective countries will have seen/heard just as bad jeering (if not worse). - Was watching an old World Masters final the other day between Eric Bristow and John Lowe, the crowd respect for both players on throw was first class, not a sound. You can imagine now the idiots who were whistling on De Deckers throw proudly boasting about it on social media. I even turned to my husband and said "Could you imagine this happening if Russ Bray was the referee tonight? At least there would have been a crowd admonishment- Ladies and Gentleman please."
