Dave Chisnall ended a brilliant night of darts by defeating
Jelle Klaasen 2-0 in what promised to be one of the games of the night on paper between two of darts' highest scoring players but it was Chizzy who got through in a game slightly overshadowed by John Henderson's shock victory over Michael van Gerwen
Both Klaasen and Chisnall exchanged holds of throws in the early going in what was bound to be a closely contested match. Chisnall though took out 80 to win the first set 3-2.
Chizzy returned back with a fourth 180 and a 104 checkout to continue the momentum up in the second set. He then went one away hitting tops to make it 2-0 and one away from making it to the next round.
Chisnall finished the job of to win 2-0 against Klaasen with a 101.1 average compared to the Cobra's 84.05 and set up a tie against Robert Thornton in Round 2 and if he can get through that, especially with the exits of Van Gerwen, the absence of Anderson and Taylor and also the likes of Wright, Wade and Suljovic still to play, Dave Chisnall could become one of the favourites for the title after the field was blown wide open.
